Dear Sir,I am very pleased with the Book by St. John of the Cross 'The Ascent of Mount Carmel" and I recommend it to all those who wish to enhance their spiritual life and have an intimate encounter with God. The Spirituality and the Philosophy expressed in the writings as contained in `Ascent of Mount Carmel' is indeed exhilarating and takes you to the summit of the Mountain leaving all earthly attachments in the valley below and as truly as the Psalmist's rhetorically poses the question `who can climb the Mountain of the Lord' and responds by saying only those with clean hands and a pure heart, who do not lift up their souls to what is false" St. John of the Cross endeavors by this book to make it abundantly clear by elaborating in his writings as to what it means to make your hands clean and your heart pure which is a mandatory requirement if you are to have an overwhelming experience of God. I also like the way he resorts to support his reasoning by constantly making reference to quotations from Sacred Scripture, which is the basis of all Spirituality and Philosophy.May the writings of St.John of the Cross be a blessing to all those who use it for their spiritual nourishment.

So deep, I love this book!
This is the best and most readable work I've seen. The Seraphic Doctor, John of the Cross, can be difficult to read.
I recommend this book to all people seeking a course on true mysticism.
The poetry is magnificent as well.
I love it!
This was a dreadful publishing of a spiritual classic. Very, very disappointed. The font could not be larger than 8pt.
Anyone who has read a good book knows that font size and margin space are the basis of a decent reading experience. This has done neither well.
Good book Hard read though
IT MAY TAKE A FEW READS FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON, BUT YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE UP. SAINT JOHN LEADS YOU TO UNDERSTANDING THE SPIRITUAL LIFE.
The Ascent is a classic of spirituality, sure, but it's also a classic of world literature. John's poetry, his imagery, are dazzling. His perceptiveness, which predates Freud by centuries and stunned a psychoanalyst. The edition is not the same as having the actual book on hand but close enough.
